Workshop Highlights

  • This workshop is designed for supervisors and mangers that have responsibility for setting up or overseeing root cause analysis and apparent cause evaluations. 

  • In this 3-hour web-based training, managers are introduced to the BlueDragon Hyper-Integrated Causal Analysis (HCA) approach: a modern, lean and agile methodology that identifies the deepest-seated causes of the most complex human-centric problems with amazing speed and accuracy.

  • Managers will be shown the benefits of BlueDragon HCA when investigating near fatalities, equipment failures, organizational and programmatic breakdowns, and most importantly, how it can be used proactively to get ahead of events.

  • Managers will also be provided instruction on the best way to support and interface with BlueDragon root cause analyses and apparent cause evaluations.

What is Covered in the 3-hour Workshop

  • Defining the human-centric problems that math and science alone cannot solve.

  • Classic issues that diminish the effectiveness of root cause analysis, including:

    • Why typical root cause analyses are too labor intensive and inefficient; 

    • Why too often root cause analyses do not identify the root causes; 

    • Misconceptions about how root causes are actually identified;

    • Why the Fishbone and Events & Causal Factors Charts are outdated;

    • Why do managers (and regulators) behave as though they have the answer key when reviewing root causes?

  • Introduction to the BlueDragon Framework;

  • Introduction to Hyper-Integrated Causal Analysis; the most lean RCA approach in the industry;

  • The liabilities associated with improperly trying to steer a root cause.

  • Management checklist for engaging the RCA teams.

Virtual Platforms / Requirements

  • We will be using Zoom, with its breakout rooms, to conduct the workshop.  In addition, you will be introduced to Mural, a powerful and easy to use virtual white board.  These two platforms have made it possible to have the same approach we have used successfully in the past; small teams working collectively on case studies, to maximize the learning.  

  • The use of Mural, our virtual white board, has made it much easier to conduct assessments, investigations and root cause analysis when we cannot conduct meetings in person. 

  • Prior to the start of class, you will be provided pre-workshop instructions on how to use Zoom, and a link to a practice Mural so you can get acquainted with the virtual white board.   

  • Because this is an all virtual workshop, participants are required to have a web cam and microphone and be able to access Zoom and Mural through the internet. 

  • Internet download speeds greater than 30 Mbps are highly recommended.

Q: Will I receive continuing education hours for the workshop? 

TBD.  We are a PMI Registered Education Provider and this workshop is in the process of being reviewed by PMI.  When approved, participants that successfully complete the BD-202E workshop will obtain 3 contact hours that are applicable to Project Management Professionals and other professional education requirements. The contact hours will be listed on the Certificate of Completion.   

 

Q: How long does it take to receive the Certificate of Completion? 

Certificates are emailed within 48 hours of receipt of the Workshop Evaluation Form. 

 

Q: What do I have to do to complete the workshop successfully? 

You need to attend the complete workshop and turn in the Workshop Evaluation Form. 

 

Q: What happens if I have technical difficulties watching or hearing the online workshop?

You will receive a free pass (voucher) good for the same workshop the next time it is presented. If you have trouble with the audio, we recommend you using the call-in option.
